Hockey fans will instantly recognize this term and then probably try and figure out what it has to do with wine. So let me explain. Winemaker Douglas Danielak is a hockey fanatic, he was born and raised in Detroit before moving to France to learn his craft working in Burgundy. He’s been back in California now since the late 80’s where he has been making killer examples of both Rhone style wines and Pinot Noirs – and he’s still nuts about hockey. He wanted to combine his two worlds so he introduced Juicy Rebound, a fun and unpretentious label to adorn what has turned out to be some seriously good wine. Many J. Webb customers will remember his incredible Paras and Jade Mountain wines but for those who have not experienced them, this is your chance to get on board. These are made in tiny quantities and we’re the only store in Canada to see them.
2016 Juicy Rebound White – Napa, California $39.95 SALE $33.95
This is a stunning wine from a guy who really understands what white Rhone grapes should taste like. I still remember how great the old Jade Mountain whites were when Douglas was at the helm and I’m ecstatic that he is making these kinds of wines again. The blend had Roussanne, Viognier and Grenache Blanc gathered from Russian River and Pritchard Hill in Napa – and together they give any good White Chateauneuf du Pape a serious run for its money. It’s rich and creamy but perfectly balanced so that it remains fresh while delivering intense flavours of honey, tea, spiced pear, lychee and nectarine. If you love complex and satisfying white wines, you need to get this in your glass! Only 92 cases made and we got 10!
